David Etsey Agbenu, Chairperson

David Agbenu is a seasoned media professional who served as a member of the Executive Management of the New Times Corporation, Editor of the Ghanaian Times daily newspaper, and Head of the Editorial Department. He joined the New Times Corporation in 1993 as a National Service personnel and subsequently became a permanent staff member. Over the years, he worked in various departments of the Ghanaian Times before rising to the position of Editor in 2012.

Mr. Agbenu is widely recognized for his dedication to duty, creativity, teamwork, punctuality, and strong self-motivation. A disciplined and respected professional, he is also known as a quick learner who consistently demonstrates leadership and professionalism in his work.

Throughout his career, he has mentored numerous young reporters entering the journalism profession and has remained committed to supporting their growth and development over the years. In addition to his journalism career, Mr. Agbenu is a communication expert and an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioner.

He holds a Master’s degree in Communication (Media Management) from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, a Bachelor’s degree in Communication (Journalism) from the University of Ghana, a Diploma in Journalism from the Ghana Institute of Journalism, and a Certificate in Online Journalism from the International Institute of Journalism in Germany.

Mr. Agbenu also earned a Professional Executive Master’s degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) from the Gamey & Gamey ADR Institute and has completed numerous professional training programs both locally and internationally.

He previously served as the Organizing Secretary and later General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA). In addition, he was the National Coordinator of Social Mobilization Partners Against Child Labor (SOMOPAC).
